Rose Street Demolition Rites

Post  Fimbulwinter on Tue Dec 21, 2010 9:14 am

Strange isn't it; when the Rose Street Health Centre was vacated, it was abandoned and left for plundering of its contents, with no security fencing to stop this and precious little concern given.

Now it is an empty wasteland, a very tidy screen has been erected to defend the boundaries. Not a hair could separate these plywood sheets. When the lonely concrete busting machine has left and this impenetrable screen is complete on all sides, I wonder what secret rites are to be held there?

I understood it was to be landscaped and planted.

It will be landscaped ....if there has not been a definitive plan endorsed by the time the EA have finished their work round the Market .. there is hope that as the EA finish plans will have been done to re-develop the site ..

What it suggests to me is that the EA cares for its assets and requires them to remain on site and in one piece; compare and contrast with previous owners of the Abraham Ormerod Clinic and Rose Street.

Sequence of events: Storage site for the flood schemes, then a developer. Tell me again where the landscaping fits in?

I very very much doubt it! The 'developer' bit at least! Don't believe all you may read in far-right 'comics'!

This is a bit confusing, does information in the Calderdale press release of November 2009 still stand, or have plans and circumstances changed by now?

"The demolition works will take place in the New Year, ensuring that the existing additional parking space adjoining the old Health Centre will be available for use by shoppers over the festive period. The demolition works should take a maximum of 8 weeks and will cause minimal disruption to businesses and local residents. This area will then be landscaped making it aesthetically pleasing and usable for both residents and visitors.

The landscaping works will create an attractive place for the local community to use in the interim period, with grassed areas, new pathways and seating areas. This landscaping work will take approximately one month and will remain in place whilst the Town Centre Renaissance Project Board continue to progress the community endorsed development brief for the town by securing a comprehensive redevelopment of the centre.

that is what we all understood would be the case, but not so it appears now.

I hadn't ever thought as calderdale.gov site as a right wing comic Cate

Joe says the site will be landscaped, if ....Estelle says not so it apears now, the CMBC statement is years old, mainly about an enterprise centre, not clear which new year it's talking about. That was before they decided the culvert needed work, if that makes a difference. Apart from the if about landscaping, is the plan still for an enterprise centre on the site? Is there an up to date statement anywhere? Smile
